Default Keeping Cats away

How do I keep cats away from my flowers outside in the summer? I love cats and would never want to hurt them, but I do not want to spend lots of time on my flowers if cats will not leave them alone. Any suggestions?

You could put up a little fence around your garden. I am not talking anything much, maybe some metal that goes around the outside just to keep them from walking into it. Hopefully then they will not enter the area although cats can easily just jump over it. My cats are lazy though, I dont see that happening.
