Default Mittleider technique - organic or synthetic?!

I've come across a lot of talk about the Mittleider Technique which seems to be widely promoted as a method of growing vegetables and increasing the yield even for those whose soil is not fertile, whether in the States, in the UK or in third world countries. It seems to focus on the use of a mixture of chemicals (effectively those that plants need in nature to grow optimally). It also seems to claim that it is more organic than organic methods - and that organic principals of gardening simply involve ways of increasing the fertility of the soil by using "natural" ingredients to provide appropriate nutrients - without in fact knowing exactly what chemicals are being added given that natural ingredients vary in quality and sourcing. They highlight the fact that composting procedures are rarely undertaken to maximum effectiveness given the difficulties in getting the heat of the compost to appropriate levels, which can creat variable results: composting also potentially increases risks of perpetuating diseases (especially given the use of manure and recent scares regarding certain pesticides that have gone through the food chain of animals and effectively ended up killing certain types of vegetables as a result! I am ambivalent about the Mittleider technique and wondered if anyone had any experience of using it in practise.
I am asking the question having recently inherited the use of an allotment plot that had been started on organic principals. I am fairly new to the art of growing vegetables and struggling with the basics, so anything that makes life simpler would help. The plot has been started off "in style" and all beds are up and running - I just need to learn more about how to maintain them in similar or better style! The question in my mind now, is quite what "organic" really means! I know this sounds a daft question, but there is something in the Mittleider arguments, I feel, albeit a bit counter-intuitive, since the plant nutrients are effectively nothing more than a list of chemicals plus water - and providing the nutrients are effectively the same I cannot see that it can be deemed not to be organic, whatever the source of those nutrients.
Any ideas would be welcomed!
