Thumbs up Plant your tomatoes upside down!!

Well I recently came upon a gardening website which promotes a new way to grow tomatoes. The tomatoes are grown upside down. Its very easy to do it. You just have to take a bucket with a cover. Make a hole in its bottom , about 3 inches in diameter. Then place your seedlings in it. Make sure that the roots do not get damaged in the transfer process. Then fill un the bucket with a mixture of soil and fertilizer. Add water to it till it starts flowing at the bottom. Then put back the cover and suspend your bucket somewhere. Add water to it every week, hopefully you will make a good harvest.

If you want to give it a try, you will get more detailed instruction from here

Regards

I used this method of tomato growing this past summer. It worked out great. My plants were healthy and they did not need stakc to support them. I suggest if you have the space and time and energy needed to plant yout tomatos this was next summer you do so. You will be surprised as to the results.

I just saw this about a month ago on TV. Who knew? I think that's pretty cool. Tomatoes are a vine but we never really consider them a vine so planting them to grow freely is pretty cool!

Default Why?

Why would you do this? I mean, it sounds interesting, but is there a benefit to growing them upside down?

This sounds very fascinating. Do you plant seeds or seedlings? Do you hang the bucket up off of the ground? I want to try this so any information will be appreciated. I planted tomatoes in pots last year but didn't get much of a crop. I love fresh tomatoes.

They currently have an Infomercial about a device that can be used to grow your tomatoes upside down. When I seen the infomercial I thought it was something new and I just loved the idea...after seeing this thread [which is more than 2 years old] ...I realized that this is an old idea with a new money making twist. Check out the link...

Gosh, I really don't know...but if you're busy and don't have hours to spend in the backyard...this really looks like 'the way to go'....
