Default What did you pack?

So I got 6 weeks left till the new bundle of joy comes along and Im actually having blonde moments at what to pact

I got told by the RN of the pregnancy ward that its mandatory that I have to stay at least 2 days there and I cant stand hospitals so this should be fun plus it will be the 1st time i'll be away from the hubby and my princess which I am not fond or happy with.

anyways im babbling on and on .........

My question is: what did you pack in your overnight bag and baby bag?
Did you forget anything? Or made sure you had to have certain things?
What sort of things did you pack for enterianment wise or to keep your self busy while staying at the hospital?
What did you pack for your baby?
what didnt you pack but wish you did pack?

comment away ladies

Lets see...

pajamas
socks
few pairs of undies
slippers
suit of clothes to leave the hospital (stretchy pants)
clothes for the baby to leave the hospital in
hair dryer
hair brush
shampoo
conditioner
toothbrush
maxi pads
(of coarse the hospital provides the last five items but they aren't worth a crap so I brought my own)

The hospital will have things there to take care of the baby so I wouldn't worry about packing anything for the baby besides clothes to leave the hospital in.

I don't think I forgot anything at the time.

Entertainment wise, I packed a book that I never read, a notebook that I never wrote in, and magazines I never read. If I wasn't taking care of my new baby, I was completely laid out on the bed resting (sleeping or watching tv) and unwilling to do anything else.

Oh, I remembered this for my second son but forgot it for my first. Buy a local newspaper to keep put up somewhere. When she gets older, it will be neat to see what the headlines and news stories were for that day.

Happy packing! I'm so excited for you!

Maybe someone else will remember something I can't think of right now. It's kinda early. Zeke has been on a kick the last two weeks of getting me up about 4:30 to 5:30 every flippin' morning.

I think zani pretty much has it covered! I actually never packed anything. Just had hubby/friends pick things up for me as needed.

I actually packed two outfits for baby. One for boy and one for girl. The funny thing about that is that I a) shared a room each time I had a child, b) ended up in a room with someone who'd had the opposite of what I had (if I had boy they had girl and vice-versa) and c) shared a room with someone who'd forgotten to pack something to take baby home in. In each case, both baby outfits went home on a baby...just only one was mine, LOL.

Aside from that I packed pajamas to sleep in there, a comfy outfit to wear home, clean undergarments (obviously), my toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hairbrush and a hair clip), a book (usually either Stephen King or Peirs Anthony), a notebook, a sketchbook, pens, pencils, and colored pencils. That's it.

As funny as this may sound, I brought a package of depends underwear :LMAO:

And I'll tell you why those are so important! Because no matter how ya slice it, ya never ruin clothes and underwear! There all padded so absorb everywhere, ya dont have to worry about leaks, making a mess or ruining anything!
I think everything else was covered by Pam....wait.....ummm....CAMERA!!!!!

Hahahaha Mommy ! When I had my 1st daughter they gave these huge pads that were sorta like depends but they were so long they reach from front and back almost all the way to the tip of your tailbone

I still have yet to pack anything only cause hubby is still remodling the room since now there will be two girls instead of one.

But Im starting to go through baby clothes to see what exactally I want to pack and bring for her But now I'm thinking maybe I should pack boy clothes too just incase?

Ooooh, that's so sweet Audra! I had a private room the first go around and a semi private the second but no one ever shared a room with me.

Oh, yeah, if you're going to breastfeed, I suggest getting or making a sign that says, "Breastfeeding, do not disturb." on the door. While I was breastfeeding Zeke (I was alone with my baby), my hubby's friend came by, gave one knock on the door and even though I said, "I'm breastfeeding," he came right in anyway! I know my husband was delighted to hear that his buddy saw my honkers.

I had a private room my first go round.. and I'm hoping that I will have a private room this time around too. My sister is due any day now really.. she' has exactly a month.. but she's sooo big and starting to drop so who knows.
I brought all my own toiletries.. and undies and nursing bra, but guess what... the pants that I brought (I was told to bring something you wore when you were six or 7 months along) didn't fit me right, so I borrowed a pair of doctors scrubs to run home and change in.. they didn't let me bring my lil girl home when they released me so we came home where I could change clothes and hubby could shower and went straight back. But honestly I didn't spend much time doing much "entertainment" things. I filled out my baby book, and had a ton of people visiting and stuff. but I did bring 2 sets of clothes for my daughter.... and a good thing i did too.. she was full term( and 7lbs 11oz) and wore premie clothes for a few weeks.. and just so happened one of my outfits was a premie outfit.
One thing that I learned after getting there though.. if you don't have a cell phone, pack a phone card, and if you do have a cell phone don't forget the charger.. LOL

LOL. I brought my charger with me and ended up losing it between the delivery room and the private room. A week later I checked back with the hospital and someone had turned it into lost and found. Thank goodness. Those things are expensive. The cheap generic ones didn't work for my phone.

LOL. I nursed all of mine, but I just covered us up with a recieving blanket when they were eating, so it was all good. No honker exposure risk that way.

Default What did you pack

So I have maybe a handful of nursing bras of various styles. How many do you think I would need? Also, what styles do you like? A friend of mine said the underwire ones were really uncomfortable for her...do you agree? Did you find you liked the basic style ones or ones that had a little bit of padding to them? What about the sleep style....are those even necessary if you dont sleep with a bra on?
